Mario López is working as Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Construction and Manufacturing Engineering of the University of Oviedo (Spain) since 2017. In 2014 he received his PhD from University of Santiago de Compostela where he was researching on marine engineering for several years. Later in 2015 López was granted by the Post-Doctoral Program of the Foundation for Science and Technology of Portugal for the development and optimization of CECO, a novel wave energy conversion system, at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto. Currently, he researches on sustainable marine structures and offshore renewable energy technology, being the principal investigator of PORTOS at his institution, as well as other national and regional R&D projects. He also teaches several courses on continuum mechanics and structures at BSc, MSc, and PhD levels in civil engineering and natural resources.
