PROPOSAL

DAEDALOUS by ECO WAVE DYNAMIS - Clean energy from the waves

Pitch

At Eco Wave Dynamis, we face the sea not with fear, but with utmost respect. This is why we dared and managed to create an innovative mechanism that converts wave power into pure electrical power. This pioneering mechanism has been designed to be more efficient in comparison with other sea wave power systems, and to have the lowest possible construction cost. It has been created after a long period of continuous research, that was conducted in real sea conditions and not in test tanks with artificial waves, where we sought to gain a deep understanding of the vast power potential of the waves. We named our system “Daedalus”, inspired by the ingenuity of this mythical inventor and polymath. Its technology is based on the operating principle of the free gyroscope, namely on the operation of a gyroscope rotor with freedom of rotation of its three axes. By means of a rugged lever, the floater is connected to the gyroscopic mechanism, which converts the free motion of the floater into rotational motion.

Summary

The 5 main advantages of the system

The Eco Wave Dynamis system has significant advantages that make it especially innovative:

The floater follows whichever direction the wave comes from, allowing the system to utilize both the potential energy and the kinetic energy of the wave in the maximum degree possible. This is contrary to existing systems which only perform a limited rising and diving motion that does not allow maximum utilization of the total energy of the wave.

It is the only wave power converter in the world that measures the wave height with centimeter precision – by implementing the ancient Greek Pythagorean Theorem. And this is how we are able to understand and harness the vast and untamed energy potential of the waves.

The construction design of the system takes into account the hydrostatic forces, as well as the bending moments and sears forces. This is why we can guarantee that it will function properly even in the most adverse weather conditions.

The desing makes it easy to produce in short notices and deliver the product almost after placing the order.

Thanks to its simplicity, the system is especially ergonomic and reliable, in order to be a certain source of profit for investors.

The floater has a bulbous shape, in order to absorb and minimize the impact forces from the waves.

Idea

Electricity from ocean waves

Harness the infinite energy of the sea for direct, low-cost electricity without costly investments.

At Eco Wave Dynamis we designed and built our own mechanism to convert wave energy into electricity. A small mechanism that can be placed on any coastline or in an special craft in any location at sea and meet the "green" electricity needs of seaside homes, hotels, campsites, restaurants and all other seaside establishments.

This innovative mechanism was designed with high efficiency in generating electricity from ocean waves and low manufacturing costs in mind.

It was developed after a long period of research in the real conditions of the Aegean Sea and not in basins with artificial waves, in order to fully understand the specificities of the Greek seas.

We named our innovative mechanism "Daedalus", inspired by the ingenuity of the mythical engineer of antiquity. The mechanism consists of a float that follows the direction of the wave to make the most of the dynamic and kinetic energy of the waves.

Advantages of the Daedalus mechanism:

It is manufactured in different sizes according to the energy needs of the customer and can meet power requirements from 0.5 KWh to 25 KWh.

Simple design with low maintenance requirements.

Guaranteed smooth operation, even in the most adverse weather conditions.

Ongoing support from the same people who designed and manufactured the system.

Long service life.

Easy removal from the sea if necessary (maintenance, storage when not in use, precaution against extreme weather conditions).

Possible applications of "Daedalus”

Full or partial energy self-sufficiency for seaside residences with low or zero carbon footprint, for which demand from the tourism and real estate markets is expected to increase in the coming years

Meeting part of the electricity needs of coastal hotels or campsites

Electric lighting in marinas

Electric lighting of coastal roads

Operation of a pump to replenish water in a swimming pool

Operation of a pump for continuous water supply to fish farms (inland installation)

Electric solutions for fish farms

Meeting the energy needs of charging stations for electric cars, in combination with wind turbines and/or photovoltaic panels

Energy autonomy of equipment for recording and transmitting marine scientific data in low-sun areas

Impact

Wave energy from the sea is an absolutely clean, inexhaustible, safe and economically viable energy source. Its scale is unimaginable, as the world's oceans cover about two-thirds of the Earth's surface. Researchers from the UK Maritime Foresight Panel estimated that "if less than 0.1% of the ocean's renewable energy could be converted into electricity, it would meet current global energy demand more than five times over!" (House of Commons, UK: https://tinyurl.com/9yv36rw3 )

We did not choose to build large, expensive wave power stations connected to the grid as this is a less efficient solution with existing technology.

We preferred to meet the needs of end users (residential or commercial) directly with small offshore inverters built to suit the needs of each customer.

We are investing in renewable energy sources because they will dominate in the near future. Overall, it is a fast-growing sector that offers high returns on investment.

The use of wave energy in the sea with the “Daedalus” mechanism of Eco Waves Dynamis, is a sustainable, innovative solution ideal for the islands and all coastal areas of Greece, as well as in other archipelagos.

The Daedalus project can be built using the knowledge EWD has gained over the last 8 years.

Finding the right investors to fulfil this project is going to be the next challenge for the company.
