Ioannis Chatjigeorgiou
National Technical University of Athens

Ioannis K. Chatjigeorgiou is a Professor in the School of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece. He has been a Visiting Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Norway; École Centrale Marseille, France; and the University of East Anglia, UK. He was awarded the Marie Curie Fellowship for outstanding researchers. He belongs to the 2% of top researchers worldwide according to the PLoS Biology, Mendeley Data 2020 survey. His research involves, among others, analytical hydrodynamics, violent slamming, hydroelasticity, dynamics of risers and mooring systems. He is a member of several professional societies, member of several editorial boards of international journals and he has authored the book “Analytical Methods in Marine Hydrodynamics” published by Cambridge University Press in 2018. Professor Chatjigeorgiou is an active researcher and has around 200 publications in refereed journals, conference proceedings, and edited books. Since Oct. 2019 Professor Chatjigeorgiou is the Vice Rector of Research and Lifelong Education of the National Technical University of Athens.
