He received the M.Sc. degree in Physical Oceanography from the University Parthenope of Naples, and a Ph.D. in Marine Science from the University Federico II of Naples. His research activities are mainly focused on modelling the general circulation of the Mediterranean Sea, strait dynamics - including hydraulics and internal waves - and climate change at regional scale. A complementary line of research is on the exploitation of ocean energy potential. He is currently Chair of the IWG ‘Ocean Energy’ for the EU SET-Plan, Co-Chair of the Ocean Energy sector for the Technological Cluster ‘Blue Italian Growth’, and member of the Scientific Committee of the Joint-Program Ocean Energy of the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA), Joint-Program Sea Level and Coastal Impacts of the European Climate Research Alliance (ECRA), and MedCordex.
