Offshore Wind Energy (Model 1)
Floating wind turbine allows to generate electricity in water depths where fixed-foundation turbines are not feasible. The turbines are attached to the seabed by a three-point mooring spread and anchoring system. This system is designed for the implementation of wind farms.

Technical Description
Physical Requirements Mean wind speed: 3-7 m/s
Bottom depth: 50-500M
Distance between turbines: 720-1200 m
Dimensions Hub height: 80 – 140 m
Rotor diameter: 110 – 150 m
Number of blades: 3
Technical aspects/Turbine Installed capacity: 3-6 MW
Electricity production: 6-25 GWh/yr
Points of attention - Potential impacts on avifauna
- Controversial impact on landscape (social acceptance)
- Potential impact on marine environment & maritime activities (interferences with navigation routes)
- Grid connection
- Selection of the technology influenced by sea depth and seabed conditions
- Variability and seasonality of wind speed
- Higher cost-effectiveness for larger turbines
